Terra Nova - May 15, 2007: Whisperings of a remake?
Well, Lifeshard has been dead for a while, as neither me nor Dalis have had the time to really make it, but, after becoming a better programmer and (hopefully) learning my mistakes when dealing with artists (must cater to them to keep them interested), I have finally decided to attempt a remake of Lifeshard.

For more details, check out this forum post.

Terra Nova - March 30, 2007: Lifeshard is On Hold
I would've made this announcement earlier, but Dalis did it for me. Yes, Lifeshard has been stalled indefinitely, until I have enough time and resources to make it. I have started another game project, this time as an independent study at my University, so it WILL be completed. I am already pretty far into the code, but I just created the website recently. You can check it out here The Last World War. It's an MMORTS, and an alpha will be released June of this year, and a BETA sometime after that.

Dalis - June 30, 2006: on Hold
Since Terra never bothered to update this page and that I am bored right now, I'll make the announcement. Lifeshard is currently on hold for some time. Ask TerraNova for more details.

-Dalis

Terra Nova - February 10, 2006: E-Mail on Release
I know that the release date of Lifeshard is rather ambiguous (end of summer 2006), and that some of you are checking to see if Lifeshard is released frequently, but don't worry about that, I'll send everyone who signed up an e-mail when it is released. As of now, the end of summer estimate is still in place, I'm still worried about having all the images in by then, but I will have the game up by then.

Terra Nova - August 22, 2005: Some Good News.
While it is sad that in my previous post I had to extend the release to next year, It's obvious I could not have released by the end of the summer to me now. And not feeling so pressured, everyone is working at a good pace that should get Lifeshard out on time this time, so hopefully that was the last time I'll have to postpone. Sure it's annoying that I had to postpone in the first place, but you never want to rush artists, so I think it will all work out for the better. I'll continue to update, and we should have something good to play next year.

Terra Nova - August 07, 2005: The Bearer of Bad News.
Well, it seems I was a little to optimistic, and I also underestimated the complexity of both the code and graphics part of Lifeshard. Perhaps if everyone had worked as hard as I had hoped this summer, the previous release date would have been possible, but everyone had other work to attend to. Myself, I’ve had work and have to get ready for college next year. But we’re not giving up on Lifeshard, it’s just that a 2005 release was overly optimistic. I’m not going to drag this out or anything, if you want more info, you can contact me. The Lifeshard BETA Release has been postponed to summer of next year.

Terra Nova - August 05, 2005: Account Activate Bug Fixed.
Sorry it took so long for me to fix it, I hadn't realized it was there. I was just told by someone trying to activate their account that it didn't work, and so I looked into it and found the bug and fixed it. Anyone who's been having trouble activating your account, it will work now. It's been down for I think the past 5 days. If you lost the e-mail, try logging in at the account area, and you can have the e-mail re-sent. Sorry about that, if you find a bug in the future, tell me right away by forum, faq, or e-mail.

Terra Nova - May 25, 2005: The Lifeshard Plot
Many have been wondering if there was a plot to the game, or if it was just a random do whatever you want MMORPG. There is a plot, and I might make it into a flash movie introduction eventually. I just added the fourth session as well (there will be 5), and it is very interesting. It can be found by clicking About -> Plot, or by Clicking here.

Terra Nova - March 11, 2005: Structure Changes
I'm going through and changing/refining the structure of the game. Stuff like balancing and making the game more realistic. Like now, your physical stats are set, and you cannot change them, however you can learn new skills and knowledge like you would in real life, or train real hard in one stat to bring it out to its full potential.

Because of all these changes, I'm going to be changing the content on this webpage, like the about page, travelers guide and plot. Yes, I'm going to write a better and more concise plot soon too. This is all preparing for the BETA release. So be prepared for changes, hopefully good ones ^.^

Terra Nova - March 06, 2005: Another Update
The Lifeshard Client itself is complete, although I'm still working on the content and several images are still needed. I will have at least the client with the text-based content out this summer, and it's self updating, so when I get the images and have to make changes, you will be able to update quickly. Well, I'll continue working and adding updates here. Lifeshard will be out soon and we're all excited.

Dalis - February 24, 2005: New/Returning Lifeshard Artist
Hello all, if you were here about 10 months ago, then you might know me as the guy who drew the elf girl shown in the screenshot section. For those who don't, well, I'm the new guy of the team and I'll be doing my best to bring those Dracoids to life, and maybe some more if needed.

Athena - February 12, 2005: My pen has come to life!
Great news, everyone!

We're well on our way to artdom! The lineart is being submitted (mostly by myself, but we're still getting images), and hopefully this game will actually have pictures. Please wish all the artists protection against the evil artists' block spirits!

Terra Nova - February 09, 2005: Progress
A lot of new users are signing up on Lifeshard, and for that I am glad, yet also sorry you have to all wait until the summer to play. However, I'm working hard to make that summer release a reality and have an excellent game for you to play then. I've been trying to get my artists to work on the artwork, and hopefully all the images will be submitted by mid summer (It's good to be optimistic), and demensunus is progressing rapidly, so there is no doubt there will be good music for the release. The coding is going along well and will be done in time, and the client is beginning to take shape. I might take some new screenshots soon. Well, I'll continue to post progress news every now and then, and lets hope that there will be an excelent BETA released this summer to play.

Terra Nova - January 04, 2005: Text-Based cancelled
I told some of you I was thinking about releasing a text based version of Lifeshard last month, but I wasn't able to pull enough of the game together in time with my other projects. I still plan on having BETA out summer 2005, and no matter what I will have BETA out then. Even if the artists fail to come through and submit the images, then a text-based version will be released then. Sorry for all of you waiting.

Terra Nova - November 30, 2004: BETA release estimate
As some of you know, the estimated release of BETA was end of December, which is when I will have all of my code done. But unfortunately, I will have few, if any, of the images needed by then. So the estimate of BETA release has been bumped to summer of next year. Sorry. However, I may release a text based version of Lifeshard in December since all of the code will be done then anyways, but it wont be anywhere near as good as the BETA release with the images.

Terra Nova - October 24, 2004: The long awaited sign-ups.
Lifeshard HAS NOT yet started, but that time is nearing. So I have opened sign-ups. Under the Account Menu, you can now sign up, and that account will be yours once the game starts. So, sign-up, and get ready for the release of Lifeshard BETA.

Terra Nova - October 23, 2004: New Layout
Well, the graphic artists got to busy to make a new layout, so I made my own. I think it works well. If you have any problems with it post in the forums.

Demensunus - October 21, 2004: Music completed so far:
Hi, I'm Demensunus and I'll be making the background music for this game. I just felt like informing everybody as to progress. I have completed Mountains, Fields, Plains, and Icelands. I have yet to finish Spirit, Volcanic, Wastelands, Forest, and Water.

Athena - October 01, 2004: Hiya!
Hey, it's Athena. I dunno if Terra Nova even approves of my doing this, but.... HI! -^_^- Yeah, so the art's coming along. Hopefully Terra Nova won't run me too ragged...

Terra Nova - September 28, 2004: Big Changes
It's Crunch Time for Lifeshard, and some big changes are going on. BETA is around the corner, and Pre-BETA just started. Anyone interested in being a part of Pre-BETA and creating the town of Zythros, there is sign-ups in the Forums. Role playing skill needed for Pre-BETA. Also, we have moved to a new home, www.lifeshard.com. That should also solve the lagging problem. It was the dot tk domain that was lagging, so it should run faster. For those of you who got used to this ghetto layout, it's going bye-bye. It was setup by me quickly just to get the site up, and looks pretty bad, so I'm getting a friend who's also a graphics designer to come up with a new layout. The in game layout will change accordingly, and it should look great. For anyone working on the project, you need to IM me or send me a PM in the forum to setup your page account. These accounts will allow you to add news and edit your contact information on the main page, to show everyone what you're up to. Speaking of that, I now have 3 artists, one music composer (Demensunus), and one graphic artist added to the team, and they're doing a good job. I think this game is going to be an excellent project, and I already like what I'm seeing. Be prepared for changes, and good ones ^.^

Terra Nova - August 26, 2004: Limited Internet Access
Because of personal issues and getting extremely busy, I will not have much time to work on Lifeshard for a while. So Lifeshard is currently on hold, but will be back up soon.

Terra Nova - August 22, 2004: Alpha Release nearing!
Well the concept of Lifeshard is done, and I've gotten a lot of the actual game functionality done. I'm still waiting on a lot of the images, but those don't have to be done until Beta. Alpha is the main test of the actual code, and normal players do not get to play it, however, with the release of Alpha means Beta isn't that far away. So hopefully you'll be able to actually PLAY the game soon enough. It'll be an executable programmed in Visual Basic that acesses PHP webpages and database on the net. Very simple, yet effective. Right now, it's just text/still image based, but if the game does well and I get a dedicated server I'll most likely make Lifeshard a 3D MMORPG.

Terra Nova - August 09, 2004: Lifeshard Under Construction
The concept of Lifeshard is almost done, and I'm beginning to make the game. Right now the graphics and layout of the game and this web page is awful, but soon my graphic artist will be done with some of the graphics and I'll implement them making the web page look nicer. The game is still under development, that's why there's no link to it. I'll post more news when have it, and hopefully the beta will be up in a month or so.
